In the cozy embrace of the LADS theatre, nestled in our unique tractor shed, we put together an amazing production of a beloved TV classic! The familiar village of Dibley, complete with its quirky inhabitants, leapt from the small screen to the stage in a production that left audiences buzzing with laughter and warmth. Yes, I’m talking about none other than our recent theatrical rendition of “The Vicar of Dibley,” a comedic gem that has been cherished by audiences for decades.
Directed with finesse and flair, the LADS’ adaptation of Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter’s stage play, derived from the beloved TV series by Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer, was nothing short of a triumph. With the kind permission of Tiger Aspect Productions, this rendition breathed new life into the timeless characters and narratives we’ve grown to love.
The reviews pouring in after the curtains drew to a close echoed a resounding sentiment of joy and satisfaction. One enthusiastic attendee exclaimed, “It was the most perfect production! I loved how much laughter we all had, and the brilliant cast… And yes, I know Moir is my sister, but for years, I’ve said she is Geraldine, and all the cast nailed their characters. Well done ????.” This glowing review encapsulates the sheer delight that permeated the theatre throughout the performance. The authenticity and dedication of the cast shone through, bringing each character to vivid life on stage.
Another attendee echoed the sentiment, expressing, “Great show tonight. All the cast were brilliant and really true to the characters they played. Well done to you all.” It’s clear that the dedication and talent of the cast and crew paid off, as they transported audiences to the idyllic English village of Dibley with effortless charm and authenticity.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this production was the seamless transition of beloved characters from screen to stage. From the irrepressibly lovable Geraldine Granger to the bumbling yet endearing Hugo Horton, each character was portrayed with a reverence that honoured the essence of the original series while adding a fresh, dynamic energy to the performance.
The laughter that echoed through the theatre was not only a testament to the comedic genius of the script but also to the impeccable timing and chemistry of the cast. Every quip, every witty retort, and every heartfelt moment was delivered with precision and passion, eliciting uproarious laughter and heartfelt applause from the audience.
But beyond the laughter and the hijinks lies the heart of “The Vicar of Dibley” — its ability to celebrate the beauty of human connection and community. As we laughed along with the residents of Dibley, we were reminded of the importance of acceptance, love, and understanding in our own lives.
The recent LADS theatre production of “The Vicar of Dibley” was a triumph in every sense of the word. From its stellar cast to its impeccable direction, this production captured the spirit of the beloved TV series with unwavering charm and heart. As the lights dimmed and the applause thundered through the theatre, it was clear that this rendition of “The Vicar of Dibley” had left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to witness it.
